Pet Care & Welfare Policy

Effective Date: 1st August 2026

At Paws, Purrs & Peace of Mind, your pet’s health, safety and happiness are my highest priorities. This policy outlines how I provide care and what I require from clients to ensure every pet receives the best possible service.

1. Meet & Greet

All new clients must attend a free meet & greet before their first booking. This allows me to get to know you and your pet, discuss their routine, and ensure I can provide the appropriate level of care.

2. Pet Health

Owners must ensure that all information regarding their pet’s health, medical conditions, allergies and medication is accurate and up to date.

Any changes to your pet’s health must be communicated before each booking.

3. Vaccinations & Parasite Control

Dogs should be up to date with their vaccinations or have appropriate veterinary guidance where vaccinations are not suitable.

Owners are responsible for maintaining appropriate flea, tick and worm treatments for their pets.

4. Behaviour

Owners must inform me of any behavioural concerns, including aggression, anxiety, nervousness, resource guarding or reactivity.

For the safety of all involved, I reserve the right to refuse or stop a service if a pet behaves in a way that poses a risk to themselves, other animals or people.

5. Dog Walks

  • Solo walks are provided unless dogs are from the same household.

  • Walks are tailored to each dog’s age, fitness and individual needs.

  • Dogs will remain on a lead unless written permission has been given by the owner and I believe it is safe to do so.

6. Medication

Medication can be administered where agreed in advance and clear written instructions have been provided.

Prescription medication must be supplied by the owner in its original packaging.

7. Weather

During periods of extreme heat, cold or severe weather, walks may be shortened, adjusted or replaced with enrichment activities and toilet breaks where this is in your pet’s best interests.

8. Emergency Veterinary Care

If your pet becomes ill or injured while in my care, I will make every reasonable effort to contact you.

If immediate veterinary treatment is required and I cannot reach you, I will seek treatment from your nominated veterinary practice or the nearest available veterinary surgeon. Any veterinary costs remain the responsibility of the owner.

9. Photo Updates

I love keeping owners updated and will send photos and messages during visits or walks whenever possible.

Photos of your pet will only be shared on social media or my website with your permission.

10. Animal Welfare

I am committed to treating every pet with kindness, patience and respect. Every service is tailored to your pet’s individual needs to ensure they feel safe, comfortable and cared for at all times.
